How to hide that you are online on WhatsApp

The WhatsApp It allows you to set a lot of privacy options but one thing that was available to everyone with a few exceptions was whether or not you were online at the time. Now finally WhatsApp allows us to hide when we are online From the app without any trick.

WhatsApp is now activating one of the most anticipated privacy improvements: We selectively hide that we are online. Meaning, anyone can see that we are online or online even though we have hidden the time of the last connection.

Hide you are online on WhatsApp

From the beginning of WhatsApp, denoting If you are online or not, it was public dataAlthough its scope started limited in the last year: only people I’ve spoken to before are mentioned, which is a workaround to prevent apps and websites from spying on WhatsApp from continuing to work.

Now WhatsApp finally lets us decide Who can see when we are online or not, from the privacy settings. This new setting has been rolling out to users for a few days now and we hope it won’t take long for it to be available to everyone.

As expected, you will find it under Privacy Settings. It’s not a new section, but it shares a place with the last connection time setting. These are the steps:

timing

You can configure who can see the last connection time (the last time you were connected to WhatsApp) as always, but this will also be the one you can now Replication also as a setting for who can see you online. The options are as follows:

  • everybody. The time of your last connection and when you are online will be public and visible to everyone.
  • My contacts. All your contacts will be able to see the time of the last connection and that you are online.

  • My contacts except. With this option, you can prevent some people from seeing the time of your last connection even if they are in your contacts. You can make the same request when you are online.

  • no one. No one will be able to see the time of the last connection. however. You can now also do this so that no one sees that you are online.

As for who can see me when I’m online, WhatsApp only gives you two options: All or the same time as the last hour. That is, if you want to limit who can see that you are online, you must also specify who can see the time of the last connection. There is also an option everybody, it is technically possible to make it so that no one can see the last online time but everyone can still see when you are online, which is in fact the default. Too messy? Here is a summary:

  • So no one can see when you are online: Choose no one in Who can see my last hour. time And the Same hour ago. time in Who can see me when I’m online.
  • So your contacts can see them when you are online: Choose My contacts in Who can see my last hour. time And the like last time in Who can see me when I’m online.

  • So only some contacts can see that you are online: Choose My contacts, except… Then select the contacts you want to exclude Who can see my last hour. time And the like last time in Who can see me when I’m online

  • So that everyone can see that you are online. Brand everybody in Who can see me when I’m online.

As usual, Adjustment works in both directions. If you prevent some people from seeing you when you are online, you will not be able to see those people online on WhatsApp either.
