Move over, iPhone 14: Samsung brings its rugged Galaxy XCover6 Pro smartphone and Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro tablet to the United States.
Dust and water resistant mobile phones are specially designed for frontline and field workers 5G network Connectivity, comprehensive security, replaceable battery, and ‘strong durability’ to withstand extremes of altitude, temperatures, vibrations and humidity.
Samsung has also introduced several functions “tailored to unique work environments”. Emergency service responders, for example, can program device keys to turn their phone into a push-to-talk walkie-talkie. And in wet conditions or environments that require gloves, touch sensitivity settings can be adjusted to increase the screen’s receptivity.

The XCover6 Pro and Active4 Pro also allow for a significant increase in maximum volume, making it easier for users to hear alerts in a busy hospital ward or on a noisy construction site. “These devices help frontline and field workers get the job done from anywhere there’s a connection, whether they’re on their feet, in trucks, or in stores,” said Chris Palsik, head of B2B mobile devices at Samsung Electronics America, in a statement. .
Thin yet durable, the 0.4-inch-thick phone and tablet are protected by a layer of scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass, and weigh 8.3 ounces and 24 ounces each, respectively. The XCover6 Pro can withstand drops up to 5 feet, while the Active4 Pro is protected from drops up to 3 feet.
Both are powered by Samsung One UI and 6nm octa-core processors. XCover6 Pro comes with 128GB of storage, support for 5G and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, while the Tab Active4 Pro offers 64GB or 128GB out of the box and Sub6 5G and Wi-Fi 6 built in. Users can expand storage up to 1 TB with an optional microSD card, and access Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) for private network service.

Each device features Near Field Communication (NFC), a Knox mobile platform for point-of-sale and barcode scanning, a replaceable battery, fast charging and Samsung DeX, creating a PC-like experience when connected to an external display and keyboard. There’s also facial recognition, biometric fingerprint security support, and defense-grade security.

The Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro with S Pen is now available in the US via Samsung Business, Amazon Business and Samsung’s Tier 1 and 2 channel IT partner. Pricing for the new tablet starts at $649.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy XCover6 Pro smartphone will hit carriers’ shelves on October 20, and go on sale later in the month from Samsung, Samsung Business, Amazon Business, IT channel partners and additional carriers.
