Samsung QN900B 8K QLED TV Review: Incredible Picture at a Price

There are some great TVs out there. If you’re on a budget, it’s worth looking into something from TCL or Hisense. If you’re willing to pay a little, LG’s OLED range is known for its quality. But if you really want to enjoy an amazing viewing experience, something like the Samsung QN900B could be in your future.

There is no shortage of cutting edge technology here. with 144Hz refresh rate8K resolution, and Samsung’s much-loved quantum image technology, watching anything on the Samsung QN900B is a joy.

But, to be fair, the TV also costs $5,000 for the 65-inch model, which I’m reviewing — and you’ll pay up to $8,500 for a larger model. At this price, you’ll want perfection. How close is the QN900B to having the perfect viewing experience in 2022? I’ve been using it for a while to find out.

Designed and configured by Samsung QN900B

As you’d expect from a TV in this price range, the Samsung QN900B features a stunning, modern design. Before you like this design, of course, you’ll need to set up your TV. You can set up some TVs on your own, but this isn’t one of them – the TV is a little fragile, and as such, you’ll need at least two people to set it up, making sure to follow the instructions closely and protect the front of the ultra-thin screen.

Setting up the TV will involve placing it carefully on a table, then screwing the stand (in three different pieces) to the back. Then, you’ll pick it up and put it in your entertainment center. On the back of the TV stand there’s room to put your One Connect box, which connects to the monitor itself, and contains all of your ports.

Speaking of ports, you get this TV Four HDMI 2.1 . ports And three USB ports for powering things like streaming devices. One of the HDMI ports acts as an eARC port for connecting speakers or another external audio system.

In general, the Samsung QN900B looks excellent. The stand is well designed and modern, and the screen itself is slim and elegant. It features an extremely thin bezel around the screen, with a thicker bezel along the bottom.

The remote control is also stylish and modern. It’s compact and easy to navigate, and you’ll never have to change batteries thanks to the solar panel on the back and the USB-C port on the bottom.

Samsung QN900B . Software

As you’d expect, the Samsung QN900B comes With Samsung’s Tizen operating systemand has been redesigned. Now, the program offers a new full screen home page instead of the launcher bar at the bottom of the interface. Samsung’s goal is to provide better content and recommendations.

The software is generally relatively easy to use and supports all the major streaming services out there – many of which come pre-installed. You will get support for Netflix, Apple TV +, HBO Max, etc.

There are also a number of smart features under the hood. For example, the TV supports smart assistants such as Bixby, Alexa, and google assistantPlus, it supports wireless connectivity standards such as AirPlay 2 and Google Cast. Of course, it also works with Samsung’s SmartThings system.

Many will choose to use external streaming devices rather than relying on Samsung’s own interface, but keep in mind that most of these won’t support 8K resolution – so you’ll only get a 4K picture.

Samsung QN900B performance

The reason to buy the Samsung QN900B has nothing to do with the software – after all, you can get this software on cheaper Samsung TVs. Instead, the reason to buy this TV is due to its picture quality. Samsung has thrown everything into building this TV – you’ll get 8K resolution, Mini-LED backlighting and Samsung’s QLED technology.

Now, a quick note. You probably don’t need an 8K TV, for 8K. There is little to 8K content, your internet connection may not be faster enough for 8K content, and depending on how far you are watching, you may not even be able to tell the difference between 8K and 4K. But there are other reasons to buy this TV as well – the truth is that Samsung has reserved some of their best tech for this TV, and you won’t be able to get it with a 4K option from the company.

The backlight of this TV is excellent. Mini-LED technology has become the best way to get those true grainy blacks without sacrificing brightness, and it’s seriously shown here. There’s no noticeable boom to speak of here, and the TV can be incredibly bright – making for a great viewing experience in brightly lit environments. Colors are incredibly vibrant too, thanks to quantum dot technology.

This TV isn’t just a great choice for watching movies and TV shows – it’s a great choice for gaming, too. All four HDMI ports support HDMI 2.1, and gaming looks amazing. Not to mention the support for the Samsung Gaming Hub on Tizen, which I think will become increasingly important.

Samsung QN900B audio

Even the TV sounds Very well. Out of the box, the TV’s built-in speakers don’t support standards like Dolby Atmos, but you can easily connect them Sound system that supports Atmos.

However, if you don’t, your TV speakers will still be pretty good. Samsung has built what it calls Object Tracking Pro into the TV, and this allows it to produce better volume and increase height, through the array of speakers built into the back of the TV. Again, it won’t beat a dedicated sound system, but it’s much better than most built-in TV speakers.

Conclusions

BGR Platinum Award 2022

The Samsung QN900B is the best LED TV Samsung has ever made. It is well designed and definitely delivers good sound, but the best is that it offers excellent picture quality with great upgrade technology and a decent operating system. It’s definitely expensive, and you don’t really need 8K resolution. But TV is really one of the best options out there.
