When it comes to weapon techniques, most people think of recoil rates or weapon proliferation, not cosmetic items. But Apex Legends Developer Respawn Entertainment Via blog post That two of the cosmetic weapon skins for the Flatline Assault Rifle have been altered to cancel the unfair advantage that the original designs of the skins allegedly granted to users over other Flatline skins.
The skins in question are the heat sink reactive skin, a Legendary grade bonus for completing the Season 4 Battle Pass, and skin revelation from recently jayden event. Both types had cosmetic designs that made shooting on the eye a little easier than trying out standard iron sights.
“Competitive integrity is and always will be a core pillar of Apex Legends,” the developer’s blog post states. “As part of that, our default iron sights are designed to push players to loot for better optics. We also believe that skins shouldn’t be a factor in the functionality of the sights either. During Season 4, we launched the heat sink reactive skin for the VK-47 Flatline rifle and we heard Comments from some players that Aim Down Sights (ADS) felt superior to any other skin available.”
There is no information yet on whether other weapon skins might suffer the same fate. At the moment, it does not appear that Respawn is planning to make any immediate changes.
As our good friend Cobain Plessic said: ‘You’re killing me, you’re better. I’ll kill you, I’m better. It reads the end of the blog post, quoting the main antagonist of Titanfall 2 and current commissioner of Apex Games. “We hope that players who own these skins will appreciate these improvements and support us as we work to keep Apex Legends fun and fair.”
