Due to the MQB Evo platform, there will be no pure electric superb. Instead, we will see the last generation of combustion engines compatible with the Volkswagen Group Euro 7 Emission rules likely to be introduced in 2025. While the popularity diesel It has dwindled, and we expect to see it return on the new Superb with a variety of TDI options—ranging from 148 hp to 197 hp.
Gasoline power should be available in mild hybrid forms and plug-in hybrids with stronger borrowing potential Passat GTEdrivetrain. The updated MQB platform is expected to accommodate a longer range setup for plug-ins, with enough battery power to exceed 62 miles (100 km) of electric-only operation.
The Superb cabin will feature an overhaul with a new approach to how users interact with the controls. This has been a controversial area within the VW group, thanks to the mixed response of the interface within the latest golf.
Skoda may avoid some of these problems by making better use of its infotainment screens. We previously spoke with former Skoda CEO Thomas Schäfer (now CEO of Volkswagen), who said more basic revisions will arrive with Superb. “The cabin is a big step forward,” he told us. “It will carry our new user language, which extends to what you touch and feel. Great will get it first, then later [the second-generation] Kodiak after, after.
“We will see some items from Enyaq iV, but we think we need to do more traditional controls, not only playing with the largest display in the industry (hint that the Superb could feature a 13-inch Enyaq) but also make sense of our brand.
