These apps support the materials you improve

Google debuted the ability to have themed icons on the home screen in Android 12, and they are designed to help work comprehensively on Material You theming. Now, in Android 13, third-party apps can enjoy themed icons; Below is a list of applications that support the function.

Themed icons are designed to create a unified look for the home screen icons matching the system theme. Available in Android 12 and above, the feature dynamically highlights the icon and changes it as the background modifies the system colors. It works fairly well, in our experience, but it all comes down to how many apps it supports.

In Android 12, this feature was limited only to apps allowed by the system, selected by Pixel Launcher (or Samsung launcher). On the pixel, the menu was on my own Google apps. On Samsung devices, it was only Samsung apps. It was a very limited version of the idea, but it wasn’t nearly the last.

In Android 13, the door is open for third-party apps to support themed icons. In just a couple of weeks since the launch of Android 13, themed icons have already appeared in more apps, although they are still quite Subscription.

The list of third-party apps that support themed icons on Android 13 is currently limited, which isn’t surprising given how far the feature is right now. The list is currently as follows:

The two biggest apps to date that support a themed icon on Android 13 are easily WhatsApp and Reddit, with the former adding support in the latest beta, and the latter in a public update on August 19. Released in early AugustThe feature is also supported.

We will continue to update this article as new apps are released with this feature.

  • Update 9/18: Telegram has moved its icon to stable, and some smaller apps have also added support.
